Hello!
It’s been so great to get your emails this week. Wow, I really am grateful that you all dropped me off at the curb. I feel like it would be so hard to have you all waiting there with me. Sabrina is a trooper. Have you gotten her email yet? You will have to send it to me when you do. Dad, that will be fun to go snowboarding before the season is over. You will have to let me know how it goes.
My week in review: I went on another exchange this week with a beautiful sister named Sister Phelps. I continue to love these exchanges. I am now volunteering at a nursing home every Wednesday (what are the odds??). It’s so fun to be back with these people. I don't take their vitals but it’s fun to joke and sing along with them.
There is a member in our ward who we have been working with for quite some time. Last week she told us that she had a friend who would love to meet us (REFERRAL!!). Brigette (the member) introduced us to her friend Andrew this past week at GMU. We had a lovely conversation with him. He told us that he has been dating a member for a few years now. She moved to Utah for school this past semester and it has been pretty hard on Andrew's soul. He told us that he wanted to figure out more about what his girlfriend believes and wants to find truth. I know that as we continue to be Christ like examples, people will see that and will have the desire to change their lives, just like Andrew. He is golden!
This past Thursday we had our iPad training. So weird huh? Everything we use is on this machine. All of our books, scriptures, planner, internet... The works really. After the iPad training I had another itching attack. I have been having these itching attacks 3-4 times a week for the last 4 months. After the training I couldn't take the itching any more so I called my mission medical doctor. We had a long talk on the phone of what the possibilities could be. He told me that I need to use fragrance free everything and that I also need to stop eating everything that contains milk and eggs. He gave me some medication to take for the next two weeks till we figure out what is wrong. It’s been a crazy adjustment but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this itching to stop. My doctor said that we will hopefully come to a solution of what it is in the next two weeks. If not I will need to go to a dermatologist. If that happens, will you send me my medical insurance card?
On Friday I went to the Missionary Leadership Council. One of the big focuses that we are now doing is all about Family History. I have never really introduced someone to the gospel through family history but I am willing to give it a try. On my fancy iPad I looked up family search and saw pictures of our relatives. I know that I have Icelandic heritage but do you know what other lines that I come from? I never really did much with family history before my mission but now it seems pretty enticing.
We have a dream investigator named Marilyn. I don't know if I mentioned her in the last email but we met her during the snowstorm last Monday. She came with Sister Hills and me to our Relief Society Pinterest party on Saturday and to church yesterday. We have had a few lessons with her and she is looking forward to baptism on March 29th. She is such a Christ like soul.
I love you all and am so excited to Skype with Justin this Sunday at 430pm (your time). Message me on Facebook if we need to change the time.
Love,
Sister Smith
