Hey family,
It was so fun to have another lesson last week with Justin and his family. Also it was great to get that message from mom about Brayden's baptism. What a neat experience that dad was able to baptize him! I really feel so honored to be a part of this missionary minded family. I tell members of the Gainesville ward about the experiences that I'm having and the influence that you all have had in my life as I've grown up in the church. I want to thank you again and I know that I can never thank you enough for your example.
We have grown a lot this week. My patience has really been tested but I know that it is for my own good. Sister Stott's poor neck has been bugging her a lot this week. She has continued to take her prescription pain meds which does not allow her to work much during the day. We have been trying to set up full splits to allow Sister Stott to go to a home and rest and to also allow me and another Sister in the ward to go out and work. It has happened once this past week and we hope that we will be able to set up more splits for the following week. Sister Stott is such a trooper and tries to make it
through the 5-9 hour every night. The reason I say my patience has been tested is because I go stir crazy in my apartment when I am in there too long. I know that she needs to heal so it really is bittersweet. I know that she is on the mend and will hopefully be back to her normal self in the next few weeks.
I have come to a conclusion. God knows our hearts and knows that more
than anything in the world, we both want to be out working and talking to every human we see about the Restored Gospel. Because He knows our
hearts, He has poured down tender mercies while we work those short
hours everyday. We have 2 new investigators!! This is huge because we
have not found a new investigator in weeks. Our teaching pool was pretty low so I am full of joy for these 2 individuals who are so solid and interested in coming to know of the truth for themselves.
Story time! A few weeks ago Sister Stott and I were out tracting in Bristow. We started talking to this lady who was smoking on her doorstep. After talking with her a little bit she told us that a neighbor of hers had already invited her to our church. We figured out who this member was and were so excited that a member beat us to the chase. This past Friday we set up an exchange and a member of the ward and I went to this woman named Becky's home and had an amazing lesson with her. During the lesson she told us that 15 minutes before Sister Stott and I found her on her doorstep she said a prayer and asked for guidance and direction. She told us that this was an answer to her prayer. We have another appointment with her this week and are really looking forward to getting to know her and her family.
The next miracle of the week happened the day after we found Becky. Two days ago we were checking on potential investigators that we found
in the area book. We went to this particular home and this potential was not there but her older sister was. Of course we did what any other missionary would do. We invited this older sister named Neysa to listen to our message. She agreed and wanted us to teach her right then. We came into her home and taught her the whole Restoration lesson. She committed to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. Her children also joined in on the lesson and so hopefully we can get the whole family on board.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all tonight as well as Mothers Day. Dad, I really feel so spoiled too! Mom, I can't believe that you and Ade are going on a vacation to Florida! I was thinking that we can Skype 7p my time which would be around 5p your time. What are your thoughts? Also you should sent me a souvenir ya ya? Also, is Jake dating this girl? I am so curious and she looks adorable! I love you all!
Love,
Sister Smith
