Fambam,
I am so sorry for the mix up yesterday. It would have been so great to Skype with Justin but Sister Stott and I are looking forward to seeing all of you this coming Sunday. Would it be alright if we did 430p? We have a dinner appointment so 430p your time would be ideal! What a fun week it has been for you all. I love this spring season and the chance that we all have to get outside. Josh and Jake good luck with Tennis this week!
My week has been crazy crazy crazy! It started with a rescue day in Woodbridge with Sister Hills. I have loved working with the single adults down there. On Wednesday Sister Hills and I took Andrew our investigator to the temple visitor center. He is so golden! The week before Andrew went to Utah to see his member friend who goes to BYU. He ended up going to the Salt Lake visitor center, went to a devotional at BYU and President Eyring spoke about Temples and Eternal families. He had an amazing time and is considering going to BYU next year. I am so grateful for these members and their willingness to share the Gospel. I will be getting updates from him on Facebook so I will keep you updated on his progression.
Transfers were a dream! Sister Stott and I have been good friends since the beginning of my mission. We even sat next to each other at Transfers so when President said that we were companions we stood up, embraced, and I got a little teary eyed. Sister Stott will be 22 next week and is from West Jordan, Utah. She went to UVU for a few years before her mission and is such a great human. We are having so much fun and are really looking forward to this transfer.
I am now a Sister Training Leader in the Gainesville ward. Gainesville is in the Centreville stake which means I will be in the Centreville Stake for most of my mission. The Centreville Stake truly has a tender place in my heart! The Gainesville ward is incredible. I am fed every single night. It’s a shocker for me because in the Centreville 2nd ward I was fed 2-3 times a week and in the Braddock ward I was rarely fed. I have been on many exchanges here when I was a new missionary and the Sisters who served here previously kept telling me that you gain in Gainesville. They were not kidding! The ward members are also very willing to go on exchanges with us. Most of the members also work for the government. We have FBI agents, CIA, Government workers etc... It’s a really wealthy area and lots of fun. One of the members in the ward hung out with the Dali Llama all week.
We are teaching a few families right now. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to teach families again. On Friday the ward had a variety show. Sister Stott and her last companion signed up to rap "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree." So on Friday I gathered up all of the courage I could muster and rapped in front of the entire ward. Nice introduction to Sister Smith huh? Haha. White girl rapping at its finest ;).
Mom thanks for sending me the medical insurance card! Hopefully soon we will figure out what is wrong with me. I am happy that Sabrina is doing a lot better! The MTC can be pretty challenging but when I look back it was some of the greatest moments that I have had on my mission. I hope you all have a fun week and continue to look for opportunities to share the Gospel.
Love your missionary,
Sister Smith
