It’s Monday again, what a week! I still am dumbfounded by how fast the weeks go. Can you believe it’s almost February. I was looking through some papers the other day and I came across my call letter that you laminated for me mom. Well the call letter was addressed for February 5th. It’s almost been a year since I received my call.
Sister Patten and I have had a beautiful busy week. We have had multiple 100 mile days. I really love it though because of how busy we are! I am making new friends all over the place. Katerine is still progressing and is still coming to church. She will not commit to a baptismal date yet but I know that she will commit to baptism before I leave the area. I have taught her for almost half of my mission and I know that there are no coincidences. She told me that she wants to take me to Peru after my mission. Mom, Dad... Let’s go! Haha Speaking of Peru, I am meeting with so many Peruvians. We meet with this girl Ginette every week and she wanted to do something special for us this past Friday. I told her that my mom made me Papa A La Huancaina, and so on Friday she made us dinner. She also had Lomo Saltado. Sweet huh!
Elder S Gifford Nielson of the 70 came and spoke to us missionaries at our Whole Mission Conference this past Saturday. He was the one who kept saying “Exclamation Point” during his General Conference talk. It was very motivational. He talked about how this is MY TIME where I can spend one on one with my Savior Jesus Christ. We had a leadership portion afterwards with him and it was neat to talk about how we can become great leaders in the Gospel. He is such a funny guy!
Okay random story, Yesterday I went to a dinner with a family in the Chantilly ward. As we started talking I told them that I am from Pleasant Grove. They asked if I knew Lamar Evans. I told them that I interned at the Hospital when I was in High School and I was able to follow him around in the Respiratory Department. I also told them that I knew Eliza. They were so excited! Small world huh.
I have a week and a 1/2 to work in 2 areas. It’s been difficult but I know that it’s pushing me and making me into the missionary that God wants me to be. I went in for my Interview with President Riggs this past week and talked to me about Malachi 3:2-3. He told me that right now I am being refined. I am going through the Refiners Fire! I knew that I would face challenges on my mission, this was to be expected. I know that there are good things to come and I know that I will look back at this time with fond memories. Sister Patten and I are really different but I know that God sent her to me for a reason. She is so patient with me!
Ahh Marissa’s call…that’s so great! I hope Nicole is having the time of her life in the MTC! It will go so quick! Haha Josh, again! He is the MAN! Tell everyone that I love them that I miss them dearly. Tell the family to email me. It might take me a few weeks to respond but I would love to hear updates. I am grateful that the Savage family had fun in Mexico.
Well I am heading to DC today for my preparation day, fun huh! I love you all and hope you have a fun week. Please continue to keep this mission in your prayers. Missionaries are going home right and left.
