Hey,
I really cannot believe that Justin is getting baptized today. It feels like we just started teaching him the lessons yesterday, and now he will make his first step in coming closer to his Father in Heaven. Sister Christensen and I are looking forward to it. We will be on Skype around 7:30pm our time so you can Skype us in anytime after that.
I hope you all had a good Halloween! My Halloween was alright... We watched Space Jam and Despicable Me 2. I thought Space Jam was SO RANDOM. But I thought Despicable Me 2 was pretty cute. I am looking forward to movie nights with you all!
This week was extremely busy for Sister Christensen and I. We had a half mission conference with Elder Kapishka (a 70). He and his wife were lovely and taught us how we can be more powerful missionaries. He focused on teaching our investigators the why of the gospel. President and Sister Riggs also taught us during the conference. I really received answers to my prayers when Sister Riggs talked about maintaining what we have learned from the mission for when we go home. I felt like she was speaking right to me. I have been struggling lately with questions like, "how am I going to keep the things that I learned on my mission to home life?" or "What if I get lazy and don't keep up my scripture study like I should?" etc... And these questions go on and on. Sister Riggs related what I am going through to 1 Nephi 8. She said that I need to continually hold fast to the Iron Rod, cling to the Iron Rod. I should not be discouraged when I mess up or when I am not perfect at things that I was perfect at on a mission. It was a good reminder to know that I will be alright when I get home.
Sister Christensen and I were also very lucky to see Elder Kapishka for a leadership conference the next day in Mount Vernon. I really have been so spoiled to have one on one time with General Authorities. He talked to us about teaching the people we have stewardship over to be the best missionaries that the Lord knows they can be.
We also had exchanges with the Centreville 2nd Sisters. It was nice to see how my first ward has been. They still have not had a baptism there since I was there which makes me sad but I talked to the sisters about working with the ward council and also having the faith to find. I know that the reason Sister Calder and I taught Erandi and Destiny was because of the diligence we had in talking to everyone that we saw about the gospel.
Sunday was a blessed day. It was my last fast Sunday on my mission. I remember mom telling me that she would always count the fast Sundays. I did that for a while and then lost track. I can't believe that the next fast Sunday I will be home with you all. I am still in shock mode and I feel like it will not actually sink in that I am leaving until I hop on that airplane. We also brought a family from Ghana to church. We have been working with them for a while and we FINALLY got them to church. This family is so fun! They also feed us Ghanian food every Tuesday. I will have to tell you all about it when I get home.
I am still working hard and loving every minute of it. I cant wait to see you all tonight!
Love, Sister Smith
P.S Tell Justin congrats for me!
