Hey fam,
I am so grateful for the chance that I have had to serve a mission in DC South for two fourth of Julys. There really is something about celebrating in the place where it all began. This fourth of July we started it off by going to a children's bike parade with some members in the ward. We were able to socialize with many nonmembers which is always a great time. The next highlight of the day was a BBQ at a members home (They went all out!) and then we went to fireworks at the Great Meadows with members and their nonmember family. It was really fun!
This week has been full of meetings. I had my interview with my mission president. One thing that really touched my heart is when he told me sincerely that he has complete trust in me. I am grateful at this point in my mission to have gained the mission presidents complete trust. We talked a lot about how I can better help the sisters in my stewardship. I have been a sister training leader for a really long time now. I don't think I will have much longer in this position, but I guess we will wait and see. We also had Mission Leadership Council this week. My one take away from it was I don't have to work harder, I have to work smarter. My big focus and push right now is with the members in the Gainesville ward. I want to leave this area better than I found it and I know that I will be able to do it as I continue to help these members become the best member missionaries that the Lord knows that they can be! It's really exciting to see all of the great things that are happening here in the Gainesville ward and I know with our faith we will continue to see success.
We are continuing to work with this lady named Bonnie. One thing that I have learned from teaching her is that you can only be as bold as you love someone! She has taught me so much of how to be BOLD and LOVING. She has also been coming to church for the past two months. She will get baptized, it's just a matter of when.
I am so happy to hear that you all had a great fourth of July! You guys really do have a busy summer. Tell the boys that I said hello and to have fun at Tennis Camp! Mom, I will look over the essays today. When do I need to have them done by? Also, we will plan on a Skype lesson with Justin this Sunday. I will also be having a Skype lesson with one of my friends on that same day so just message me on Facebook to let me know what time will work for them. I love you all and I hope you have another great week.
Love your missionary,
Sister Smith
