Hello fam,
Wow, school is really back in session? It just seemed like yesterday when they got out of school. These kids here in northern VA get back to school the beginning of September. I keep talking with all of the children in the ward and they are all looking forward to getting back in the groove of things. Summer just seemed to fly by but I am grateful that you all had a good time.
This week was of course beautiful! I went on three exchanges this week which left me exhausted but I loved every minute of it. I know I tell you this a lot but we have some of the best sisters in the DC South mission. Transfers are a week from Thursday and I feel like I will most likely be transferred since I have been in Gainesville since the middle of March. I am so grateful that the Lord kept me here for all of this time. I have grown a lot in this area and I have seen a change in the ward which has been really cool! Because transfers are almost here I don't want to jinx anything but I think it's time I go down as a sister training leader. There are excellent missionaries in this mission who would do a great job in this calling. I know that the Lord knows best so we will all see what happens.
President and Sister Riggs came to the Gainesville ward for church this past week. They spoke in sacrament meeting, taught the children the second hour, and then taught the adults the third hour. They focused on member missionary work of course and focused on praying for opportunities, serving those around us, and continuing to invite. It was really motivational and I know that this will help the ward members desire do missionary work.
Today Sister Schramm and I went to Mount Vernon. It was such a beautiful day here in Virginia and it was so nice to walk around George Washington's home. His place looks over the Potomac river. It was just breath taking. A member of our ward took us and our good friend Bonnie.
That really was the focus of our week. We are looking forward to our discussion with Justin tonight.
I love you all and hope you have a great week adjusting back to school,
Love Sister Smith
