Can you believe that it's been a year since my last birthday? I really can't believe how fast it's all going. Transfers are this Thursday and Sister Lindmeir will be heading back to Utah. It really was a quick six weeks! She has been so focused. She went to her departing temple trip this past Wednesday and had her last interview with the mission president today.
This has been one of the best weeks that I have had on my mission. We got in a home of an inactive member and her two children this past week (missionaries have not had contact with them for over a year). We had a long discussion and afterwards we set up a time to come back... This is HUGE! We also ate dinner with 2 inactive families. We have not had contact with these two for over a year as well. The Lord is continuing to bless this Gainesville ward.
The Steeves (Inactive) took us to Mimi's Cafe on Friday. Right when we walked in there was a host who asked us what church we belonged to. He was really excited when we told him and he said that he has lots of friends who are members of our church. At the end of our meal the host came to the table and asked, "do you have a card?" Aww we were speechless! He is really interested and wants to take the missionary discussions. #preparedpeople
We have done some pretty neat things this weekend. We have a potential investigator who is a baptist and reminds me of Glozelle. We have been helping her move into her new home. We have a ward BBQ this next Saturday and so we thought it would be a great idea to invite her to it. After we invited her to the BBQ she invited us to her Baptist Picnic... We could not turn down the offer hahaha. We went to the picnic on Saturday and boy did we stick out like a sore thumb! I left that picnic talking in a southern accent. It was too good! I also have learned that my bag is called a POCKABOOK. Hahaha it was a moment that I will never forget.
Brother Steeves is an inactive member and his wife Melissa is a nonmember. Melissa invited us to her baptism for this past Sunday in her nondenominational church. We received permission and prayed to know if we should go. Sister Lindmeir and I both received a distinct answer to go to this baptism. We did and it was so different than what I am used to. Everything was very casual. This experience has really strengthened my testimony of the restored gospel on this earth. I know that the priesthood authority is in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are really happy that Melissa has this desire to follow her Savior and I know in time she will be ready to take the missionary discussions. After the baptism we had three young single adults approach us. They all have friends who are members of the church . They want to take the lessons now! Isn't that just crazy. We were able to pass these young single adults to the Braddock Ward. I know that this was the reason that we felt so right about going to the baptism. THE CHURCH IS SO TRUE!
My birthday was so wonderful! I woke up and when I walked out of the bedroom I saw my whole apartment decorated. Sister Lindmeir even made me breakfast. After that we had our normal ward council, studies, the baptism, and then church. I received so many gifts from the ward members. They have all been so good to me. This ward owns my heart! I really never want to leave Gainesville. The Dionnes had us over to their home for dinner. Their daughter Renee had her birthday on the 19th so we were able to celebrate together. I don't know if I told you all before but Renee will be leaving to the Paris, France mission on Aug. 20. After that we did some work and then had a celebrating with some sister missionaries in my complex. Thanks for all of the gifts! I really have the best family around. I cant wait to give all of the pencils and the stickers to the chidren!
Man, I really could go on and on and on about all of the miracles that are happening here. I am BUSY! We also received two referrals from the members this week. I really am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be here for one more transfer.
It sounds like you all had a busy week. I am happy that you got my other email about the Provo, Utah missionaries. We are very busy today so we will not be able to have a Skype lesson but we will be available for sure on Sunday or the following Monday. Maybe you all could have a family home evening or a scripture study?
I hope you all have a great week this week! Sister Lindmeir's homecoming is this Sunday if you would like to go to it. Sister Hills is also heading home this week. Two of some of my best friends are leaving but I am so happy for them. Sister Lindmeir's homecoming is at 9am. Her church address is 725 S. 200 E. Layton, UT.You will have to let me know if you end up going.
I love you all!
