Hey Guys,
Time is going too fast. I thought life at home went fast but being a missionary, time speeds up. This week has been a week of learning and growing. Like always... We have had a lot of service opportunities that I will tell you about. We got a referral from missionaries in the Richmond mission. They wanted us to go and help her move in. On Wednesday we did just that and then after we were done she wanted to hear about the gospel. We are going to start teaching her the lessons on Wednesday. She is so great and has 2 cute girls who are in gymnastics. They moved into a large house in Clifton. It's beautiful, I dream about living in Clifton someday... Hmm.
Anyways, Sister Mitchell and I cleaned a goat barn this week. We did it for this less active lady who says she never has time for church. We told her that we would help her with the things on her list so she could find the time. I have never cleaned a goat barn before. It was definitely an experience. I guess it hasn't been cleaned out in 6 months. Gross! The lady reminds me of Snow White. She is an animal lover and it's amazing because she really takes care of every animal. We saw 8 deer come into her yard waiting for food. She says that she also feeds foxes, raccoons, and talks to the spiders. She named a spider Charlotte like Charlotte's Web. She is a vegetarian and fed us some great food. Tell Aunt Melanie that I have eaten grits again and I love them. The next highlight of the week that we had was going to Mary Rose's birthday party. I don't know if I have told you guys about her before but she is an older lady who has been investigating the church for over 20 years. We do service for her every week and help her understand the gospel. She turned 84 and it was a big family celebration. She is Italian and so all of her family flew in from Italy. They are some neat people. We even talked to one of her grandchildren about the gospel and have the chance to talk to her about it this Wednesday. Her name is Angelica and she taught us a little Italian. Io Sono Sorella Smith. My name is Sister Smith. They also fed us great Italian food.
We had a great lesson with Katarine and Melvin yesterday. Katarine came to church and went to all three hours with us. She is still progressing. After church we had a lesson with her and her husband. We followed up on the plan of salvation by reading 2 Nephi 2 and talked about the spirit and how we can all receive guidance from it. It brought Katarine to tears and you could really feel the spirit. We want them to progress together so we don't have an exact date for baptism yet. Melvin just needs to get work off.
At Zone Training the Zone Leaders told us about a talk that we are going to be focusing on for the next 40 days. This talk is titled Thy Confidence Shall Wax Strong in the Presence of God. It is by Robert E. Quinn. We are consecrating ourselves and following the guidelines that it has asked us to. I encourage you guys to read it. It's amazing and will definitely help me throughout my missionary work. We found out some great news. After the 40 days are up, the whole mission is going to a Washington Nationals game on September 13th. It's going to be fun!
The weather has been so nice. It's been in the 80's all week and this week it's supposed to just rain. People have told us that this is pretty rare. Mom my skin is alright. I am still using the cream that my mission leader gave me but I need proactive again. Can you send some to me ASAP? And can you send me those family pictures too? I haven't received them yet.
I am so sorry about Jordan. That breaks my heart! Their family will be in my prayers. It truly is a blessing to know that we can see the people we love after this life. I love telling our investigators about the plan of salvation because it makes sense to them. Thanks for sending me the pictures of Mallory's wedding. She looked beautiful! The Ace Gang also looked great as always. Mallory and Lindsey sent me a 5 year memory book. It is so great and they were so sweet to think of me. I have the best friends in the whole world!!! How is Brittany doing? I haven't heard from her at all and I am curious about the wedding that's coming up. Malibu Dye looked so pretty too. Tis wedding season.
Tell Jake to have fun at EFY and tell Josh good luck at tennis! I heard Adrianne is a dating machine. Man, life is great! Dad, have fun with your tennis tournament and I can't wait to hear how it goes. I love you guys and I hope you have a great week this week.
Love,
Sister Smith
