Hey it was so great to see you on Skype yesterday! Sister Hills and I enjoyed the opportunity to talk to Justin about being a Light in the wilderness. We look forward to this coming Sunday. I am so grateful for this technology that we have! God is so good!
How crazy that Jake already had his tennis tournaments in St. George. It feels like just yesterday Ade, Lindsey, Ben and I took a trip up there to see him. Congrats on 2nd place Jake!
Like always, Sister Hills and I had a busy week. We went on 2 exchanges which were wonderful! One of the exchanges was with my good friend Sister Richardson from the MTC. On Friday we had the opportunity to get together with all of the Sister missionaries from DC South for a Sisters Conference. There were people who came and taught us Self Defense. I felt like a Karate ninja... Waaaaayaaaa!
After that we had a great discussion about positive thinking and living in the moment. I am so grateful that this was mentioned, because lots of Sisters tell me that they are not good enough. I really do believe that man often becomes what he believes himself to be. It's nice having the opportunity to work with all of these Sisters and help them realize their potential.
Results on my itching frenzy. I have been fragrance and dairy free for almost 2 weeks. The doctor gave me pills to take and it has helped subside the itching. I did have another attack last night. Keep saying your prayers that I will be able to get this thing figured out. It really is so strange but I am grateful that I will have the opportunity to figure this out while I am on my mission.
Updates on Katerine. I have been working with her for so long now! I have worked with her almost my entire mission which is so odd! Her mom from Peru came into town last week and does not speak any English. We had a pass lesson with the Hermanas so that they could teach both Katerine and her mom. I have a special place in my heart for Katerine and I know that she is where she needs to be.
Mom it's so weird that I ran into your friend from High School at Stake Conference this past Saturday. These members in Northern VA really do treat us so well! Stake Conference was such a treat. On Sunday we had the opportunity to hear from a few of the 70 (Paul V Johnson, Bruce A Carlson). We also heard from L Tom Perry. It was a broadcast that went to the whole northeastern region. I was inspired, uplifted, and educated. We met our new investigator at this conference too. Her name is Michelle and she has been meeting with missionaries in a family ward for the past 3 weeks. She has had most of the lessons and is ready to get baptized. I am grateful for missionaries who pass their YSA investigators to the Singles ward.
I hope you all have a great week full of sunshine. I am really grateful for how missionary minded you all are! Make sure to follow up with Justin and see how his scripture reading is going. Maybe their family can have family scripture study with you? Food for thought....
Also transfers are this coming Thursday. I have been in Braddock for 3 transfers now so I have no idea what will happen. Tell people to not write letters to me this week because of transfers. I'll send you an email on Friday letting you know where I am.
Love,
Sister Smith
P.S. Libraries are closed due to the snow so I can't send pictures or email this to Adrianne. Can you forward this to her? Thank you!
